Judging
Judging boiled down to the basics:
- Click to start your ballot as soon as you get to the room. This lets the tournament operators know that you got the notification and have arrived at your room.
- Please do not base your decisions on your own personal beliefs, but on the abilities of the students to communicate, perform, and participate effectively in the round.
- Please do not offer oral critiques. Some coaches object to judges doing this and it slows the tournament to a crawl.
- Write (type) comments as the performances happen. Do not wait until the end.
- Do not tie points in ANY event. The winner must receive the most points in all debate, speaking, and interp events.
- As soon as you have your winner/ranks determined, SUBMIT THE BALLOT so the tournament can tabulate results and proceed. You can then go back and finish comments.

How to judge an asynchronous round if we have to go online - the students are competing live (in person) at this tournament unless (knock on wood) there are lock-downs. If we are prevented from gathering at the school, the tournament must go on and we will pivot to using a zoom-type system called NSDA Campus.

- Our school financial secretary, Nancy Kern, will compile the information and if you have not judged for our district before, Nancy will also need the W9 that we are required by law to submit.
- Look for additional emails from Nancy Kern ([email protected]) after you submit the completed judge contract to Sarah in case you missed a required part of either form.
- Please note that we do not have school November 20-24 for Thanksgiving, so the soonest Sarah can submit your paperwork is Monday, November 27.
